Foam fire extinguisher is different from the other types of fire extinguisher because of its extinguishing agent. In this case in your tank you will find some foamy liquid that, once it has been in contact with the air, it will become foam.
Where can I use the foam fire extinguisher? This type of fire extinguisher is ideal for A and B fire classes
What do we mean by A and B fire classes? We refer to slid and liquid materials which caused the fire. In the case of class A, the fire was generated by solid materials such as: wood, paper, textiles, rubber and skins. With Class B we refer to liquids, so: gasoline, solvents, alcohol, hydrocarbons and mineral oils.
The foam extinguisher is not suitable for classes C (gaseous materials), D (metals), E (electrical panels) and F (vegetable and animal oils).

Foam fire extinguisher: use
The fire classes are not the only thing that we have to consider during the purchase of a foam fire extinguisher. There is another fact that is very important.
What are we talking about? About the weight.
Depending on the weight the use of your fire extinguisher foam can change but also the type. In fact, if the weight is less than 18 kg we talk about a portable fire extinguisher, easily usable and transportable. If the weight is more than 18 kg, then we talk about a wheeled fire extinguisher, more suitable for wider places. You can transport it by pushing it on a trolley equipped with wheels.
We have seen the two types of foam fire extinguishers, now we just have to evaluate the right use of fire extinguisher, based on weight.
From 2 to 9 kg it is advisable to use for domestic environments and workplaces.
From 52 kg: for use only for large environments.

Foam fire extinguisher: price
Foam fire extinguisher can have both a cost within the range or not. Everything is also at the desired weight. But if you're a private person who just wants to have security at home or in your workplace, with a 6 or 9 kg foam fire extinguisher, you won't have to worry about spending a lot. The cost would not be excessive.
The last warning is as follows: When you are in front of a fire, direct the foam towards the base of the fire and not to the flames, otherwise you risk wasting in vain the precious material. In case you find yourself in front of a domestic fire and inside you feel that the fire extinguisher will not be able to tame it, listen to what your brain and your instincts tell you. Just think about putting yourself and your family at the shelter and immediately alerting the fire brigade.
