THE IMPORTANCE TO STAY SAFE WHERE YOU WORK

A fire prevention and safety plan for the home is something many people have in place with their families, but it's also important to think about fire safety where you work. Business owners, managers and employees should work to ensure their workplace is adhering to fire code and looking out for the safety of workers and customers. Employees are responsible for fire prevention at work for their safety and that of their co-workers. The best way to prevent workplace fires is to be aware of and on the lookout for potential fire hazards. It's necessary to report hazardous situations to the supervisor and to know the location of fire extinguishers and other emergency equipment that is available to the staff. If an emergency does happen employees and customers will need to exit quickly. To make sure that can happen safely and efficiently exit corridors in workplaces need to be clear of obstructions, including boxes. Exit doors mustn't be obstructed, but must be able to swing freely, meaning they need to be unlocked. Fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting needs to be inspected by a qualified company at least twice a year. Time and again, companies that put safety first turn out higher quality products and that's because, in some cases, a safe workplace tends to be a more efficient one. By working in a safe and efficient environment, workers are able to reduce distractions and truly focus on the quality of what they do. The results are better products that create customer loyalty and increased sales.
